County calendar for May 10

THURSDAY

— The Jessamine County Public Library will host Teen Animé and Manga Club from 4-6 p.m.

SATURDAY

— A free meal is provided by Manna Ministries each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is a restaurant-quality meal served at 303 W. Maple St. in the community center of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. The meal is open to the public for anyone in need. Takeout meals are available after 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome and can contact the office at 859-885-4481.

— Habitat for Humanity will host a health and wellness fair Saturday, May 12, from noon to 4 p.m. at the ReStore, located at 317 N. Main St.

— The Jessamine County Public Library will host Special Mom and Daughter HG from 1-3 p.m.

— The Jessamine County Public Library will host Waggin’ Tales from 1-3 p.m.

— The Jessamine County Public Library will host Erin Marie Hamacher, classical pianist, from 3-4 p.m.

— The Wilmore Farmers Market is now open for the 2012 season. Fresh produce and baked goods will be available each Saturday starting at 8 a.m. The market will be open rain or shine until 1 p.m., or until that week’s goods are sold out. The market is located in the city-hall parking lot.

— A gospel extravaganza will be held at Marble Creek Baptist Church at 5 p.m., May 12. The church is located on Union Mill Pike in Nicholasville. Guest singers include Vance Drakeford, Samatha Penland, New Journey-KY Girls, Mike Florence, Bob Roe and Jessamine Creek Creek Express, The Men’s Acapella Group of Lexington, Mt. Gilead Church Choir, Jubilant Ringers and many others. Admission is free.

SUNDAY

— Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera Bread, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.

— The Jessamine County Public Library will host an indoor drive-in movie featuring “Puss in Boots” from 2-4 p.m.

— Wilmore Free Methodist Church will hold a singing celebration at 6 p.m. The adult and youth choirs will lead this special service celebrating God’s gift of song. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 859-858-3521 or visit wfmc.net.

MONDAY

— The Jessamine County Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and welcomes people 60 years of age and older. The center has a fully equipped exercise room and a thrift shop. The seniors meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Activities are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bus service and a hot lunch are available on a donation basis. For more information, call 859-885-9102.

— The Francis Asbury Society, located at 1580 Lexington Road, Wilmore, is hosting a study of the book of Exodus on Mondays at 7 p.m. through June 16. The study is led by Dr. John Oswalt, visiting distinguished professor of Old Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary.
