— A free meal is provided by Manna Ministries each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is a restaurant-quality meal served at 303 W. Maple St. in the community center of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. The meal is open to the public for anyone in need. Takeout meals are available after 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome and can contact the office at 859-885-4481.
— The Wilmore Farmers Market is open for the 2012 season. Fresh produce and baked goods will be available each Saturday starting at 8 a.m. The market will be open rain or shine until 1 p.m. or until that week’s goods are sold out. The market is located in the city-hall parking lot.

— Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera Bread, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host “Java and Jive” with free fair-trade organic coffees from 1-4 p.m.
— Wilmore Free Methodist Church will host a book discussion Sept. 23 and 30 at 9:40 a.m. The featured book will be “Bad Religion: How We Became a Nation of Heretics” by Ross Douthat. David Bauer and Rick Boyd of Asbury Theological Seminary are the facilitators and Daryl Diddle and John Oswalt will lead the discussion. The church is located at 1200 Lexington Road. The center has a fully equipped exercise room and a thrift shop. The seniors meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
