THURSDAY
— Writers and would-be writers are invited to join the Write People group Thursdays from 1:30-3 p.m. Oct. 4 through Nov. 22 in the Senior Community Center at Wesley Village in Wilmore. The class is free and open to all ages, and offers the opportunity to be inspired, get fresh ideas and feedback, and hone writing skills. FRIDAY
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host “Jump and Jive” at 10:30 a.m.

SATURDAY
— A free meal is provided by Manna Ministries each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is a restaurant-quality meal served at 303 W. Maple St. in the community center of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. The meal is open to the public for anyone in need. Takeout meals are available after 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome and can contact the office at 859-885-4481.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host its third annual Boo Wow Walk at noon.
— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host its holiday gift fair Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

SUNDAY
— Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera Bread, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host a music workshop: How to Improve Your Singing from 3-4:30 p.m.
— Bluegrass Dragway will host a reunion. The Kentucky Motorsports Hall of Fame presents, Bluegrass Dragway Reunion II. For only the second time in Thirty One years former racers and fans will gather to share their memories of the old Dragstrip that closed in 1981. Bluegrass Dragway was located on US 27 on the site of the current Industrial Park. From 1964 through 1981, Bluegrass  was the site of many National Hot Rod Association and the International Hot Rod Association events. Touring professional racers from California to New York made stops at the famous facility. The track opened August 2, 1964 and the final race was held in November of 1981. Reunion II will feature many old Bluegrass race cars in a special display, special guests including former track officials & former racers, memorialbia photos and movies from the glory days of Bluegrass history at the actual site of the old facility. MONDAY
— The Jessamine County Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and welcomes people 60 years of age and older. The center has a fully equipped exercise room and a thrift shop. The seniors meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Activities are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bus service and a hot lunch are available on a donation basis. For more information, call 859-885-9102.
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host Mother Goose story time at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

TUESDAY
— The Jessamine County Public Library will host preschool story time at 7 p.m.

— The “Youth Bash on Chestnut” will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m. at the Inner City Breakthrough Ministries parking lot on Chestnut Street in Nicholasville.
