Martial Arts USA (April 10, 2012) |
Members of the leadership teams from Martial Arts USA spent the first day of spring break giving back to the community by delivering food donations to God’s Pantry Food Bank. The 15 leadership members participating consisted of elementary- to high-school-age students under the supervision of their instructors and Grandmaster Jeon. Giving of their time is one of the ways Jeon teaches the students teamwork within the school and with the community as a whole.
As a team, the school collected more than 740 pounds of nonperishable food over the holidays in their “Yes I Can” food drive.
The young students also spent part of the day picking up trash around the Millpond Shopping Center, where their school is located. All students learn the virtues of respect, discipline, perseverance, humility and loyalty as a part of their regular classes, but Jeon believes it is important to provide opportunities such as the food drive so young leaders learn the importance of having a heart for their community’s needs and that to be a true leader they must willingly work to meet those needs.
