Dr. and Mrs. T. J. Reynolds of Nicholasville recently celebrated, with joy, their 65th wedding anniversary. Married in Seattle, Wash., the couple had met each other while Ted was serving in the U.S. Navy and was stationed there before his tour of duty in the South Pacific and while Dolores was living and working in Seattle.
They moved to Chicago, Ill., where he attended Illinois College of Optometry and received his degree, OD. The couple chose Nicholasville to make their home, with Dr. Reynolds establishing his optometry practice and Mrs. Reynolds working as program manager for the first cable TV station in the county.
Both Dr. and Mrs. Reynolds have been active in civil, educational and charitable organizations over the many years of residence here, with Mrs. Reynolds serving as president of the Nicholasville Women’s Club and Dr. Reynolds serving as an honored member of Rotary International.
The couple have two children, Ted and wife Charlott Reynolds of Nicholasville, and Vickie (Reynolds) and husband Dr. Edward Akelman of Barrington, R.I.
They also enjoy the company of their four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Christopher R. Akelman of Boston, Mass., Matthew R. Akelman of New York, Kassi and husband J.T. O’Brien and daughters Evie and Addison of Jacksonville, Fla., and Dr. Tara Reynolds of Alexandria, Va.
Dr. and Mrs. Reynolds are avid travelers, having visited every state in the United States, and continue to live life to the fullest together.
