A Wilmore woman pleaded guilty to five counts of third-degree rape and two counts of third-degree sodomy and was sentenced in Jessamine Circuit Court on Friday.
Circuit Judge Hunter Daugherty sentenced Ashley Bender, 31, of 705 Corbitt Drive to seven years in prision, five years for each rape charge to run concurrently and two years for the sodomy charges, also to be run concurrently.
Bender was first arrested June 26, 2011, and indicted by a grand jury July 29 on 12 charges — five counts of third-degree rape; two counts of third-degree sodomy; three counts of unlawful transaction with a minor, where it was alleged that Bender provided controlled substance Xanax, marijuana and alcohol to a minor; and two counts of use of a minor in sexual performance, “where she employed or induced (the minor) to engage in a sexual performance,” according to court records.
The charges of unlawful transaction with a minor and use of a minor in sexual performance were dismissed Friday, according to court records.
The rape charges stem from an alleged incident June 24, 2011, when Bender “had intercourse with (a 15-year-old) male” at a local hotel, according to court records.
Bender originally pleaded not guilty to the charges July 5, 2011.
