Jessamine County Fiscal Court announced that the Jessamine County E-911 Central Communications agency passed its June 2012 Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) audit with a 0.00 percent serious-error rate, thereby earning the agency a score of 100 percent. By comparison, the serious-error rate statewide during 2008-2010 was 2.12 percent.
The CJIS audit is conducted every three years, with data quality and policy compliance being the major components of the audit. This is the first time since the inception of the Jessamine County 911 Central Communications Agency that Jessamine County 911 Central Communications has passed the audit with absolutely no serious errors. (A serious error is anything that can cause the agency to be sanctioned, either incorrect or inaccurate data, or being out of compliance in policy and procedures.)
Jessamine County has 16 full-time employees who utilize the Law Information Network of Kentucky (LINK) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system. Currently, there are approximately 930 entries of items included in the Jessamine County department’s data-quality measurements. These items include stolen articles, stolen vehicles, stolen guns, missing and wanted persons as well as domestic violence orders (DVOs).
“It is a major accomplishment to handle that much information with absolutely no serious errors,” E-911 director Shelby Horn said. “I am very pleased and proud of terminal agency control (TAC) officers Tammy Durham and Margaret Jean Brown for their continual efforts and tenacity and willingness to work long hours in making this agency a ‘continuous improvement agency’ with LINK-NCIC.”
E-911’s Tammy Durham said the recognition was well deserved.
“This score shows that our checks-and-balance system is intact and that my assistant TAC officer, Jean Brown, is very diligent in her work as well,” Durham said. “It also shows that the telecommunicators are taking the time to do a quality job while handling telephone and radio traffic.”
