The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred around 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Subway on Springdale Drive.
According to a news release, a male dressed in dark clothing and a partial covering of his face entered the sandwich shop and ordered the two employees to the back of the store.
Chief deputy Allen Peel said the suspect used a handgun in the robbery and no one was injured during the incident.
The man brought the employees back to the cash register, where he ordered the female employee to give him the contents of the drawer. After the man took an undisclosed amount of money, he forced the employees into a bathroom and fled the scene.
Peel said the Tuesday-night robbery was similar to another robbery that occurred in the area Thursday, Jan. 31, at Concord Cleaners in the Bellerive Shopping Center. Peel said a handgun was also used in the Jan. 31 incident.
The description of the perpetrators in both incidents was vague, and Peel said the sheriff’s office is going to look at security tape with the hopes of offering a better description.
“We’re not sure at this time; we’re trying to get some surveillance tapes, and we will release the suspect description later,” Peel said.
Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 859-885-4139.
