The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a weekend shooting in Tates Creek Estates.
According to a JSO news release, deputies responded to 14 McDowell Drive around 4:20 p.m. Sunday, when a heated argument was taking place.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered that one shot had been fired from a 9 mm handgun at James Shanks, 40. Shanks was not hit, chief deputy Allen Peel said.
Deputies arrested 43-year-old David Smallwood and charged him with first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Deputies also arrested Smallwood’s son, 20-year-old Dustin Smallwood, and charged him with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and tampering with physical evidence.
Both men were lodged in the Jessamine County Detention Center.
