The Jessamine County Attorney’s Office has filed a murder charge against Curtis L. Flora, 36, of Lexington during a preliminary hearing in Jessamine District Court Monday afternoon.
The murder charge stems from a violent beating on New Year’s Eve that resulted in the death of James Dean Wallace, 32, also of Lexington. Wallace died Wednesday morning, Jan. 2, at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
The alleged incident occurred on Vince Road in Jessamine County around 7:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve, Jessamine County Chief Deputy Allen Peel said.
Peel said Flora and Wallace got into an argument in a car on Vince Road.
“They were riding along on Vince Road when it irrupted,” Peel said.
According to Peel, Flora struck Wallace multiple times in the head with a closed fist.
The case has been referred to a Jessamine County grand jury.
If convicted on the murder charge, a Class A felony, Flora faces a 25-year prison sentence.
Flora is lodged in the Jessamine County Detention Center. No bond has been set in the case.
