Two men were arrested following a robbery at the Kroger on South Main Street in Nicholasville.

Joseph Morris 24, of Nicholasville, was charged with second-degree robbery and Steven Whitaker, of Nicholasville, was charged with receiving stolen property valued at $10,000 or more for possession of a stolen truck.

The robbery occurred Tuesday night around 11 when Morris, Whitaker and another man entered the store and allegedly attacked a man in the Kroger bathroom.

The victim, whose name wasn’t released, told police the men were trying to steal his wallet. During the attack, the victim pulled a knife and stabbed Whitaker in the lower back. Police say after this happened the three alleged robbers fled the store and fled in a pickup truck.

Police said a shopper followed the men and called 911 to let them know where the truck had gone. Officers soon located the truck, which had been stolen out of Lexington, and abandoned by the three men in a nearby apartment complex.

Soon thereafter, officers located and arrested Morris and Whitaker.

Whitaker was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Both men are lodged in the Jessamine County Detention Center. Both men are scheduled to appear in Jessamine District Court at 11 a.m., Jan. 22.

The third man remains at large. He is described as a balding white male who was wearing blue jeans and work boots. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Nicholasville Police Department at 859-885-9467.
