Charles Edwin Crouse Sr., 95, widower of Sarah Winfrey Crouse, Lowry Lane, died Friday, March 15, at his home. He served his country during World War II in the Army in Italy, was wounded and received a purple heart. He was a member of the Wilmore United Methodist Church, longtime member of the Board of Trustees of Asbury Theological Seminary, and longtime treasurer of the church and Wilmore Camp Meeting. He, along with two brothers, owned and operated Crouse Brothers Sales & Service, Builders Supply and Construction Company. He enjoyed playing tennis, boating, hunting, UK basketball and especially being with his family. Survivors include a son, C.E. and wife Lolita Crouse Jr. of Nicholasville; three daughters, Karen Rhea Crouse and husband David Hunt of Crestwood, Ky., Linda Louise Crouse and husband Wally Cook of Wilmore, and Sarahlynn Crouse and husband Randy Crist of Wilmore; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation was at the Wilmore UMC on Tuesday, March 19, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Services were at the Wilmore UMC on Wednesday, March 20, at 10 a.m. Burial followed at the Wilmore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Charles E. and Sarah B. Crouse Endowed Scholarship Fund at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore. His life verse was Isaiah 26:3, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee; because he trusteth in Thee.” Arrangements are with Betts and West Funeral Home in Nicholasville. www.BettsandWestfuneralhome.com.
