Emma L. Lowe, 86, of Nicholasville passed away Thursday, March 1, at the Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation following an extended illness.
A native of Jefferson County, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late John and Emma Clark Collins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Lowe; a son, Thomas Collins; and several brothers and sisters.
She was a retired cook and was a member of Pigeon Valley Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lowe is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Hogan and husband Alfred of Hartford, Tenn.; a stepson, Kenneth Lowe and wife Jewell of Elizabethton, Tenn.; a sister, Mildred Shroyer and husband Dan of Fort Wayne, Ind.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; special nieces Tammy Cobb and husband Roger, and Brenda Cobb and husband Rick, all of Nicholasville; and several other nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. David Caughran officiating. Music was under the direction of Belinda Alley. The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday prior to the service in the chapel.
The graveside service and interment followed the funeral service in the Taylor Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Roger Cobb, Richard Cobb, Steven Cobb, Anthony Hogan, Andy Hogan, Chris Hogan and Mike Alley. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Lowe and Randall Lowe. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at Central Baptist Hospital for the loving care given to Mrs. Lowe.
