Espie Lee Traylor, 56, formerly of Garrard County, passed away at his home in Jessamine County on Monday, Dec. 20, after an extended illness. "Stubby," as he was affectionately known, was born Jan. 10, 1955 in Bourbon County. He was a son of the late Earl and Genevieve Rust. Also preceding him in death were his older brother, Billy Traylor, and an infant granddaughter, Tiffany Ross.
Mr. Traylor was a former tow truck driver for Bluegrass Towing in Lexington. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and an avid outdoorsman. He loved listening to country music, watching NASCAR, and spending time with family and friends. He had been thrilled that he felt well enough to attend the races at the Kentucky Speedway and the JMM Countryfest this past year.
Espie is survived by his beloved wife and friend, Gloria Traylor, and her sons, Eric-Lee and Mason Groves. He also leaves behind his children, Jenny and husband Kenneth Ross, Robyn and husband Greg Denton, and Kevin and wife Kayla Traylor. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Megan and Aaron Ross, Amber, Lauren, and Chloe Denton, Jordan Sherman-Groves, and his two remaining siblings, Barbara Brown and Johnny Rust. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and other friends and relatives to cherish his memory.
