George Thomas Shofner, 79, died Wednesday, Dec. 14. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a master’s Degree in physiology. He worked in sales for almost 40 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years as a communications technician and served during the Korean War. He was an active UK Wildcats fan. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents and a loving sister, Nancy Lee Shofner Lancaster. He is survived by former spouse Emma Brannock Shofner of Nicholasville and their five sons, Richard Alan and wife Jan of Versailles, Thomas Neil of Nicholasville, Matthew Todd and wife Teresa Ann of Stanford, Fr. Christopher Lee of LeCenter, Minn., and Donald Harvey and wife Melinda of Lexington; 10 grandchildren; and many extended family members.
