James F. Ake, 77, husband of Ruth Gillum Ake, died Feb. 26. He was a member of Grace Community Church of the Nazarene. Additional survivors include a daughter, Bonnie L. Minix and husband Osten Roe; a son, Ronnie Ake; a grandson, Brian K. and wife Kristy Minix; two grandchildren, Brent M. and Jarett W. Minix; and a nephew, Johnny Whitmer. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Betts & West Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. Bearers were Brian Minix, Osten Roe, Phil Parks, Jimmy Taulbee, and Joe and Randall Gilliam. Honorary bearers were Chuck Richardson and Ronnie Ake. www.BettsandWestfuneralhome.com.
