John F. Cox Jr., 98, husband of Elexene Mastin Cox, died at their home March 14 surrounded by loved ones. He was born Aug. 1, 1914, in Fayette County to John F. and Nannie Mitchell Cox.
He is also survived by daughters Judith Lynn Cox and Patti Cox Taylor (his caregiver); granddaughter Ashleigh DeCecca and husband Justin and great-grandchildren Taylor and Lawson DeCecca; special nephew Bill Cox and wife Esther and their family; loving sisters-in-law Wini, Juanita, Bettye Lee and the Mastin family. Two brothers preceded him in death, Durward and wife Cathy, and Bob and wife Hallie Cox.
In World War II, John proudly served three years in the Pacific and spent 67 years as a dedicated Jessamine County farmer. His family received visitors Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. at the Cox home with a service of remembrance at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
