Leola Joyce Floyd Denton, 71, wife of George Thomas Denton, died Monday, Jan. 14, at her home.  She was a member of Providence Christian Church, a school-bus driver for more than 25 years and loved to travel especially to the Smoky Mountains. Additional survivors are a son, George William and wife Kimberly Denton; two grandchildren, MaKayla and Chad Denton; nine siblings, Louis Land, Betty and husband Charlie Reynolds, Barbara Murphy, Jimmy and wife Anna Belle Floyd, Billy and wife Anna “Twinkie” Floyd, Bobby Floyd, Judy Hager, Beatrice Gayle Floyd and husband David Cheek, and Rickey Floyd; and numerous other family members and friends. She was also preceded in death by three siblings, Chester and Harold Floyd and Helen Dvorak. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Sholar officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Bearers will be Terry, Shane and Paul Floyd, Dallas Murphy, Alan Pitney, and Dale Cuzick.
