Minnie Lydia Trierweiler Olson entered her Heavenly Home on March 18 at Wesley Village in Wilmore. Minnie was born Sept. 6, 1911, at Staples, Minn., the daughter of Charles and Lydia Shannon Trierweiler. She graduated from Crosby Ironton High School in 1930 and from Asbury Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Minneapolis, Minn., in 1933 as a registered nurse. She married Walter Olson on Dec. 12, 1933, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1993.

Walt and Minnie were early pioneers in the settlement of Alaska and later returned to Minnesota, where she served as a nurse in the Moose Lake State Hospital. Upon retirement, she and Walt moved to Wilmore, where they became active in the Wilmore United Methodist Church. Minnie was also very active in the World Gospel Mission prayer band organization both in Barnum, Minn., and in Wilmore.

She served as a volunteer at the University of Kentucky Hospital and as a member of the Hospital Auxiliary Board. Minnie enjoyed traveling, reading, concerts and plays. She remained physically active until the very later days of her life and was an inspiration to the residents and staff of Wesley Village.

She is survived by four children, Beverly and husband Allen Peterson of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc., Dale and wife Marilyn Olson of Colorado Springs, Colo., Susan and husband Gary Buffin of Versailles, and Curt and wife Jane Olson of Cedar Park, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Friday, March 22, from 2-4 p.m. with services to follow at 4 p.m. at Wesley Village Community Center. Burial will be in Wilmore Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
