Speed Eugene Ramey Sr., 66, resident of Royal Manor Nursing Home, died July 30 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born in McKee on June 8, 1946, to Harm Ramey and Christina McElroy Ramey. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Ramey; children Melinda Ramey, Eugenia Ramey and Lonnie G. Ramey Sr.; grandchildren Chancey E. Ramey I, James T. Collins, Destinee Ramey, Devin Ramey Jr. and Gabriel Ramey; great-grandchildren James E. Collins, Lilly Izabell Ramey, Chancey E. Ramey II and Lilly Grace Amosson; and his brother, Jerry Ramey. He was preceded in death by his son, Speed Eugene Ramey Jr.; and a sister, Thelma Laffoon. Funeral services were held at Maple Grove Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Friday, Aug. 3, with the Rev. Jimmy Johnson officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memory Gardens in Bourbon County.
