Manna Ministries offers free meals at NUMC

A free meal is provided by Manna Ministries each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is a restaurant-quality meal served at 303 W. Maple St. in the community center of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. The meal is open to the public for anyone in need. Takeout meals are available after 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome and can contact the office at 859-885-4481.

Confrontation Point adventure-race fundraiser planned

Confrontation Point Ministries will host an adventure-race fundraiser April 14. The event combines adventure with service; competitors will run, bike, paddle, construct, plant and serve. Proceeds and donations will enable Confrontation Point, based in Wilmore, to benefit Kentuckians in need, inspire teams to serve and equip young people to lead.

The race covers more than 3 miles of running, 2 miles of paddling and 10 miles of road cycling. Innovative physical challenges and service initiatives will be integrated into checkpoints.

Participants may enter as soloists or partner teams (partners race together against other partner teams). Canoes will be provided to first 30 teams. Registration is $40 per person plus an encouraged (not required) donation to the good works of Confrontation Point. Racers can ask friends or relatives to sponsor them. All donations are tax deductible.

St. Athanasius offers free bread on Sundays

Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.

FAS to study book of Exodus

Easter-egg hunt set at Wesley Chapel

St. Athanasius announces Holy Week schedule

St. Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., announced its Great Lent, Holy Week and Pascha schedule for 2012. Eastern Orthodox Holy Week begin April 7 with the Feast of Raising of Lazarus and reaches a climax on Easter midnight on April 15. Over nine days, the church will have between 30 and 40 hours of special services. One of the highlights is Monday and Tuesday (April 9 and 10), when the gospel of Mark is read. Lighthouse to host fun fair

Lighthouse Baptist Church, located at 105 Shun Pike, will host a family fun fair Sunday, April 29, following the 10:30 a.m. service.
