Lighthouse Baptist celebrates 17 years
Lighthouse Baptist Church, located at 105 Shun Pike, will be celebrating 17 years of service in the Jessamine County community March 3.
Pastor Dan Barnes and a group of 43 dedicated Christians, through the guidance of God, formed Lighthouse Baptist Church on March 3, 1996.
The original location was on Oak Street. Calvary Baptist Church, located at the current site under the leadership of the Rev. Philip Peterson, merged with Lighthouse to become the church that it is today. Attendance on any given Sunday is between 450 and 500. The church is an active and involved presence in the community. Many local events are held at the church such as veterans recognitions, and police and firefighters recognition. The original church building at Shun has been repurposed and fully remodeled to serve as a venue for weddings, youth-group activities, small banquets and Bible studies. The bus ministry is one of the most loved ministries of the church, reaching out to an average of more than 100 children each week. Lighthouse earned the distinction of receiving the 2012 Readers Choice Award as being the Best Church In Jessamine County. www.lighthousebc.net.
