Manna Ministries offers meals
A free meal is provided by Manna Ministries each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is a restaurant-quality meal served at 303 W. Maple St. in the community center of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. The meal is open to the public for anyone in need. Takeout meals are available after 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome and can contact the office at 859-885-4481.
NUMC to offer health program
Nicholasville United Methodist Church is offering a chronic-disease self-management program, “Hope to Cope,” a six-week series that began Monday, Jan. 23, and runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon. It is a six-week interactive workshop that helps people who have ongoing health problems know how to take care of their health. During the class, participants will learn how to take small steps toward positive changes and healthier living. The program is for those 18 years of age and older. St. Athanasius offers bread ministry
Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St. (next to the Prescription Pad), offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.
Society to host Bible studies
The Francis Asbury Society, located at 1580 Lexington Road, Wilmore, will host two Bible studies beginning in February. On Mondays at 7 p.m., the society will host a study of the book of Exodus. The study will be led by Dr. John Oswalt, visiting distinguished professor of Old Testament. On Tuesdays at 7 p.m., there will be a women’s Bible study on the book of Hebrews, chapters 7-13. Lighthouse Baptist to host spring events
Lighthouse Baptist Church will show the movie “Courageous” on Sunday, March 11, at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The church will host the Easter musical “Never Thirst Again” Sunday, April 8, at 10:30 a.m.

The Jessamine Christian Church women’s ministry is sponsoring a “Rock-a-Thon” to benefit All God’s Children in Nicholasville on Saturday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Wilmore church hosts special event
The public is invited to worship through the arts Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. at Wilmore Free Methodist Church. This special event begins with a recital, followed by a visual-arts display and refreshments. Child care will be provided for children up to 36 months.

Troy Presbyterian to host Lenten study
Troy Presbyterian Church will host a Lenten study of Thomas Keating each Monday during Lent (Feb. 22-April 2) at 3 p.m. Each session will last one hour, with 45 minutes of discussion and 15 minutes of centering prayer. Nicholasville Baptist reenacts Civil War occupation
Nicholasville Baptist Church’s 1862 occupation by Union troops during the Civil War was reenacted at the morning service Feb. 19 as the church observed its 163rd anniversary. Henry Baker, Todd Mills, Rick Staley, and Randy and Ronnie Neal appeared as wounded soldiers; Samitha Cross as Mollie Saunders, a daily visitor. Randy Neal sang the 1861 battle song “Just Before the Battle, Mother.” Pastor Ken Whitehouse’s second anniversary was observed at a supper following the 6:30 p.m. service.
New Hope to host singing
Shelia Gibbs and Final Call will be singing at New Hope Fellowship at 1451 S. Main St. in Nicholasville on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m.
