Manna Ministries offers free meals at NUMC

A free meal is provided by Manna Ministries each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meal is a restaurant-quality meal served at 303 W. Maple St. in the community center of Nicholasville United Methodist Church. The meal is open to the public for anyone in need. Takeout meals are available after 12:30 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome and can contact the office at 859-885-4481.

FAS to study book of Exodus

The Francis Asbury Society, located at 1580 Lexington Road, Wilmore, is hosting a study of the book of Exodus on Mondays at 7 p.m. through June 16.  The study is led by Dr. John Oswalt, visiting distinguished professor of Old Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary. Women’s ministry meeting set at Church of God

Motorcycle jump at Lighthouse Baptist canceled

The motorcycle jump scheduled for May 20 at Lighthouse Baptist Church has been canceled. Todd Bennick has been injured in an accident and will be unable to make the jump.  Please join us in praying for his speedy recovery.  An announcement will be made when the event is rescheduled.

St. Athanasius offers free bread on Sundays

Saint Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., offers free bread to families and individuals in need in the Nicholasville area. Saint Athanasius distributes this bread, supplied by Panera, every Sunday from 1-2 p.m. on the porch of the South Main Street location.

St. Athanasius to host film festival

St. Athanasius Orthodox Church, located at 926 S. Main St., announces its spring film festival. The films will be shown Wednesday evenings starting at 7:15 p.m. May 16 and 30. The festival will feature recent Russian-language films (with subtitles) having religious themes. The film selection is as follows: May 16: “Parables”; and May 30: “Parables II.”

Marble Creek Baptist hosting music event

A gospel extravaganza will be held at Marble Creek Baptist Church at 5 p.m. May 12. The church is located on Union Mill Road in Nicholasville. Guest singers include Vance Drakeford, Samatha Penland, New Journey-KY Girls, Mike Florence, Bob Roe and Jessamine Creek Creek Express, The Men’s Acapella Group of Lexington, Mt. Gilead Church Choir, Jubilant Ringers and many others. Admission is free.

Futerman to lecture at Asbury on science, faith

Dr. Anthony H. Futerman — a world-renowned author, research scientist and professor of biochemistry at an institute of higher education in Israel — will speak on “The Origins of the Universe and Life” at Asbury University on May 21. The 7 p.m. presentation at the state-of-the-art Miller Center for Communication Arts is free and open to the public.
