What has happened to the America I grew up in? When I was growing up if you got in trouble at school you were in a lot more trouble at home. If you got a spanking you would get one more if not two at home.

Guess what? That behavior did not happen again. Nowadays your parents, as well as the teacher who gave you a little discipline would be arrested, they would lose their jobs and go to jail. In the meantime you would qualify as a ward of the state, be entitled to years of therapy and most likely end up on our welfare roles because of your poor and wayward upbringing and abuse. You could spend your entire life living off the back of taxpayers because you needed a little guidance.

Let's take it one farther, you are a child at school, you trip and skin your chin, your teacher comes over to check on you, she or he actually holds you and gives you comfort and tells you it will be OK. No, someone sees the teacher, tells the authorities, the teacher is arrested and charged with inappropriate touching.

The parent sue the teacher, the school board and anyone else they can think of. Obviously the parents win the suit and collect a lot of money, the teacher is fired, barred from teaching and loses her or his net value. Now the teacher has to go on welfare and can never teach again, the school board says this will never happen again and the student will receive benefits for life.

Where did common sense go? I got paddlings at school and at home again. I did not turn out so bad and actually pay taxes and provide jobs and try to make a positive impact on my community.

I give thanks everyday I grew up in an America that was actually evolving into a better, stronger country not just for me but everyone. Somewhere the liberals decided we were on the wrong track and today if you ain't with them you are a dinosaur conservative without any sense of compassion or caring.

I, for one, am sick and tired of having to be politically correct. I know the difference between right and wrong. I do not need the ACLU, the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Supreme Court, President O'Bama, or anyone else tell me what is right or wrong. The only thing I have to follow is the Ten Commandments. If you can show me where I am wrong, stupid, indifferent or ignorant I will be your convert.

I welcome any debate but my beliefs are a lot older than any liberal and have so far stood the test of time.

Again, I ask what happened to the America I grew up in? I wish someone could tell me.
