East Jessamine soccer player Victoria Slade has decided to continue her soccer career at Southern Virginia University.

“I really liked the small atmosphere and the closeness of the team,” Slade said.

The senior midfielder signed with the Knights last week.

During her senior season, Slade dished out 12 assists and scored 11 goals. She finished her career at East with 22 goals and 16 assists.

“Victoria has always done everything we’ve asked of her. She’s grown as much in four years as any player that I’ve ever coached,” East coach DeAngelo Wiser said. “She’s gone leaps and bounds from where she was as a freshman due to her dedication and love of the game.”

“My coaches (at East) have all been really good, and I’ve learned a lot from every one of them,” Slade said. “They were all great soccer players and still are.”

Southern Virginia is a small private college in Buena Vista, Va. The Knights currently compete at the NAIA¿level but are in the early stages of moving to NCAA Division III.

Slade said the thing she’s looking forward to most about college is soccer. She plans on majoring in biology.
