West Jessamine baseball coach Jody Hamilton has been around long enough to have a pretty good idea of what kind of team he has on his hands in February of each year.

But at the end of this past season, he admitted that with the youth of the pitching staff, he felt the team would struggle to  finish above .500 this season — the Colts ended up 26 games over .500 with a 32-6 record (best in the region).

While he is quick to credit the way his seniors pulled the team together, Hamilton was a major factor in the team’s succes that included a 16-game win streak.

In the last 10 years, West Jessamine has won exactly 250 games — the one constant is Hamilton, and this season was one of his best, with 32 wins and another district crown.
