East Jessamine adds three new coaches for 2012-'13 season

Following last season’s coaching drama, the county had a pretty quiet spring this year as only three coaching vacancies had to be filled — all of which were at East Jessamine High School.

Lady Jaguars volleyball coach Steve Schweitzer will be replaced by Hannah Wheeler. Wheeler is a 2011 graduate of Asbury University, where she played volleyball for four years and set a school record in career digs with 2,134. As a senior she was named all-KIAC. She attended Tates Creek High School in Lexington.

East Jessamine volleyball is coming off a 6-21 season.

Joseph Mau will take over cross-country duties. East Jessamine is coming off a strong year in cross-country with nine runners making it to the state championships. Mau was the East cross-country coach from 2002-’04 and was an assistant coach in Tucson, Ariz., from 2001-’02.

Mau is a life-long distance runner and graduated from the University of Montevallo in 1997.

Sara Morgan will be the new track and field coach. East competed in nine events at the state track and field championships last month.

Sylvester Turner coached East cross-country and track and field last season.
