East Jessamine senior Josiah Clements made his college choice last month by signing with the University of Pikeville. He will play soccer for the Bears.
“I’m so proud of him. I’m real happy that he’s found a home at Pikeville ... I’m glad that he’s pursuing his dream of playing college soccer,” East Jessamine coach Tom Morgan said.
Clements is the third Jaguar to sign to play college soccer this year.
Clements decided late in the school year that he wanted to continue playing soccer past high school. He visited a couple colleges, but Pikeville stuck out in his mind and became his choice.
“It felt like a home away from home even though I was only there for two or three days. It just felt like the right choice,” he said.
After the soccer season ended last fall, Clements started to miss it and that’s what ultimately drove him back to the game.
“I love the game; I love to play it,” he said. “I realized that I probably wouldn’t have been as happy if I didn’t play soccer.”
Clements also said soccer would help him stay more focused in the classroom.
He is planning on going into pre-law and is excited about the team aspect of college soccer and getting to play with new players and facing old teammates.
