East Jessamine boys’ soccer is still searching for its first win after the Jaguars allowed two late goals against Madison Central on Tuesday night in a 2-1 loss that dropped them to 0-5 to start the year.
The Jaguars lone goal came off the foot of Sumner Blue in the first half with just over 11 minute before the half.
Blue, a sophomore, lobbed the ball over the keeper’s head and into the net from the left side.
East carried the 1-0 lead into the half.
“We talked (at halftime) about keeping our defensive structure,” East coach Tom Morgan said. “We were pretty much playing for a 1-0 win at that point.”
Central continuted to press te ball in the second half and East failed to get many good possessions. With 20 minutes remaining, East was called for a penalty in the box and Central shot a free kick past keeper Dale DeVore.
“It’s all perspective,” Morgan said of the foul call.
During the frantic closing minutes, Central got another shot off at the goal and bad touch by the Jags resulted in another goal for the Indians.
“Just tired legs ... and I think the fatigue set it,” Morgan said. “The ball was bouncing around, they got a nice open shot just inside the box and just a mistouch on the ball redirected it around Dale and we lost.”
