Jody Hamilton Baseball Camp

West Jessamine baseball coach Jody Hamilton will conduct the Jody Hamilton Baseball Camp this summer at West Jessamine High School.

The camp is open to boys and girls in grades 5-8. The camp will be June 18-20. Camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day and will focus on hitting, throwing/pitching, base running/sliding, infield and outfield.

The camp’s staff includes West head coach Jody Hamilton, West assistant Casey Hamilton and West assistant Travis McConathy.

Father and son basketball tourney

Out from Bondage Ministries is hosting a fathers and sons basketball tournament Saturday. The tournament is at East Jessamine High School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The tournament is a 4-on-4 format with two sons and two fathers on each team. Individuals may also enter and will be placed on a team.

Reds baseball and softball camp

Sign up now for the official Cincinnati Reds baseball and softball camp, presented by Safeco Insurance.

The Lexington camp is June 18-22 2012 at Lexington Christian Academy and is open to boys and girls ages 6-14.

The camp runs Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes 30 hours of instruction packed with skills development, competition, camaraderie and fun.

Campers will be given a full Reds uniform (jersey, pants, hat and belt), four tickets to a 2012 Reds game and a special graduation certificate commemorating his/her attendance at the inaugural season of the Cincinnati Reds Baseball and Softball Camps.

On one of the five camp days, participants will be transported by bus to Great American Ball Park for a VIP behind-the-scenes tour of the bullpens, dugouts, batting cages, media room, broadcast booths and clubhouse.

The camp includes special instruction from a Reds coach plus a guest appearance by a current Reds star.

Each camper will get to compete in a skills competition with the championships held at Great American Ball Park. Campers will also have their swing recorded and analyzed by the camp video specialist using the same technology used by the Reds.

RJ Corman annual 5K

Wilmore Parks and Recreation is again hosting the RJ Corman annual 5K run. The 1-mile fun run and 5K run will take place Saturday, June 30, in downtown Wilmore, at 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m., respectively. The starting and ending point will be in front of the Wilmore United Methodist Church on East Main Street.

Water will be available along the course and refreshments after the race. All participants will receive a free T-shirt. Registration forms can be found at www.wilmore.org, Wilmore City Hall and on day of race.

Early-bird registration ends June 28. The 1-mile fun run is $8  ($10 day of race), and the 5K run is $10 ($12 day of race).

Youth football signups are underway for 5-year-olds to 12-year-olds. The deadline to register with the Panthers is June 15. No late entries will be accepted.
