James named all-state honorable mention

West Jessamine baseball’s Dalton James was named to the Kentucky high-school baseball coaches’ all-state honorable mention team. The senior was only player from Jessamine County to make the list and only one of four players from the 12th Region.

Ky. Baseball Club wins Cincy tourney

The Kentucky Baseball Club 16 team coached by East Jessamine High School baseball coach Kevin Clary won the Cincy Flames 16 Wood Bat Tournament this past weekend in Cincinnati.

The tournament featured more than 50 teams with the top 16 advancing from pool play.

The club played three games on Sunday, winning the first two to get into the championship against HP Prospects (Indiana). The club came through with 4-0 win to take the championship.

RJ Corman annual 5K

Wilmore Parks and Recreation is again hosting the RJ Corman annual 5K run. The 1-mile fun run and 5K run will take place Saturday, June 30, in downtown Wilmore at 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m., respectively. The starting and ending point will be in front of the Wilmore United Methodist Church on East Main Street.

Water will be available along the course and refreshments after the race. Each participant will receive a free T-shirt. Registration forms can be found at www.wilmore.org, Wilmore City Hall and on day of race.

Early-bird registration ends June 28. The 1-mile fun run is $8  ($10 day of race), and the 5K run is $10 ($12 day of race).

This event is in conjunction with week-long events celebrating Wilmore’s Festival of the Fourth.

West Middle basketball camp

West Jessamine Middle School will be hosting a basketball fundamentals camp for girls entering sixth, seventh or eighth grade.

The camp will run from July 10-13, 9 a.m. to noon each day.

The camp is free and all girls wanting to play basketball this season are expected to attend.
