Deputy Sheriff Barbara Pill

Deputy Barbara Pill, who was shot to death recently during a traffic stop. Pill stopped a car at Elena Way and John Rodes Boulevard, just east of U.S. Highway 95 near Melbourne, because its occupants were suspected of stealing furniture and TVs from an EconoLodge on New Haven Avenue in Melbourne, the Sheriff's Office said.The driver, Brandon L. Bradley, 22, shot Pill several times as she told him to get out of the car, investigators said. She died during surgery at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
