WHERE: 463 W. New England Ave., Winter Park (at Hannibal Square East)
THE LOWDOWN: Armando's is a trattoria-pizzeria created with adults in mind. The scene is sophisticated, the ambience is warm and the food is good.
THE BACKGROUND: The location is the former home of Hot Olives, which moved to roomier digs a couple of blocks away. Interestingly, Armando's has opened up the space quite nicely. With tables outside on the corner spot, a fab bar rail along New England Avenue that peers into the main dining room, additional outdoor dining in a courtyard in the back and a side dining area that looks like it can convert quickly into private dining, Armando's feels like it has tripled the space of the old Hot Olives.
