Photo Gallery: Ice Cream Science in McKinney

McKinney Elementary students in Mechele Watkins fourth-grade science class were treated Tuesday morning to a tasty lesson in food creation and agricultural science. The students each made their own serving of vanilla ice cream, with guidance from Department of Agriculture employee Matthew Hayes. Hayes is program coordinator for the Mobile Science Activity Center, a 42-foot-long trailer that travels to elementary schools across central and eastern Kentuckky, giving students hands-on lessons focused on agriculture. The activity center stopped Tuesday in McKinney, treating younger students to a walk-through experience showing them how foods are made and giving older students hands-on lessons, including the ice cream lesson.
