Photo Gallery: Stanford Art Camp

STANFORD -- Some Lincoln County kids got treated to a week full of art creation last week. The Stanford Arts and Music Program held an art camp at the First Southern Community Center, where campers crafted glass mosaic windows, painted gourds, created plate flowers and more. One day the crew hit the streets of Stanford with cameras to see what cool photos they could get. Arts and Music Program Director Bob Swett said the camp, which cost $199 per camper, was very successful. "We had parents tell us it was the best experience they ever had with camps," he said. Roni Gilpin, Arts and Music Board Director, hauled equipment and supplies to and from the arts center and led the campers in many arts activities. Gilpin said the camp, which she expects the Arts and Music Program will do again next year, provided its campers with art experiences they were unlikely to get elsewhere. The camp was so successful Gilpin said there may be additional small events created in the future as off-shoots from the camp, like a day of painting by a creek or art creation during a festival.
