STANFORD — A man is listed in fair condition today following an all-terrain vehicle accident Sunday afternoon.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the scene on Fishing Creek in Lincoln County about 2:45 p.m. Gavin Turpin, 25, was transported to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington following the accident. No further details are available from the sheriff’s department.
Sheriff warns against mail scam
STANFORD — Lincoln County residents who have received letters claiming they have won money in a lottery may be targets of a mail scam, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
The suspected letters state that the recipient has won a large sum of money through a computerized drawing.
The letter includes a check that will supposedly pay taxes on the winnings and advises the reader to wait for further instructions in order to receive the winnings.
With the help of a bank, the sheriff's office has identified the letter as a fraud. Residents are encouraged not to give out any information.
