STANFORD — One of the Stanford Elementary students who suffered E. colipoisoning shortly before the end of the school year is still recovering at home and the other is making "slow but steady" progress recovering in the hospital.
Stanford Elementary Principal Dan Story visited the student in the hospital Friday and said she is "very active and doing well."
"They're not really sure … how long she'll be in there," he said.
Story said the student who has returned home isn't back to 100-percent just yet.
"They think the student will make a full recovery but there's still just some (getting) acclimated back to normal life," he said.
The two students tested positive for E. coli poisoning in late April, triggering responses by local, state and federal health officials.
An investigation was unable to determine the source of the E. coli, but food samples from dishes served at Stanford Elementary during the week the students got sick tested negative.
