STANFORD — Six people have been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine after fumes from a meth lab hidden in the attic of a Stanford duplex caused neighbors to get sick.
Four Stanford residents, a Hustonville woman and a juvenile were arrested Nov. 20 after an early morning investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department led to the discovery of the meth lab.
Kenny Shelton Jr., 42; Roger Fox Jr., 28; Chad Stevens, 23; and Jason Perry, 29, all of Stanford, along with Cassie Rachelle Smith Dowell, 23, of Hustonville, and the juvenile were all charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and five counts of wanton endangerment.
Shelton is also being held on a related charge of unlawful transaction with a minor.
Deputy Sim Thacker was called the duplex on Goshen Cutoff Road around 2:45 a.m. to investigate complaints of toxic fumes, according to a news release.
Stanford EMS was also called to the scene to treat neighbors who became nauseated by the fumes. Sheriff Curt Folger said five people in the adjoining duplex were potentially subjected to the fumes.
One person was taken to the hospital from the scene and a second person visited the hospital later for symptoms caused by the exposure, Folger said.
Thacker and Folger found the active meth lab in an attic space. Stanford police assisted at the scene, and state police dismantled the lab.
Shelton, Fox, Stevens, Dowell and Perry were being held on $25,000 cash bonds Wednesday morning.
