STANFORD — A Stanford man was arrested Friday after confessing to shaking a 6-week-old girl.
Lucas Vinyard, 29, of Star Avenue, allegedly shook the daughter of Kisha Gosser on Aug. 17, according to police.
State Trooper Paul Blanton said Gosser and Vinyard are believed to be boyfriend and girlfriend.
"After confessing to shaking the 6-week-old victim, the subject was arrested and charged with assault 1st-degree," the arrest citation, dated Aug. 24, reads. "The victim is currently at UK medical center in critical condition with four broken ribs, subdural hemorrhages in the skull and both eyes have hemorrhages. If the child lives, it will probably have some degree of brain damage."
Blanton said Gosser took her daughter to Fort Logan hospital after the incident, and state police were subsequently notified that an infant had been admitted to the hospital with injuries "consistent with child abuse."
Gosser's daughter was transferred from Fort Logan to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. Her current medical condition is unknown, Blanton said.
Vinyard is being held without bond at the Lincoln County Regional Jail.
