STANFORD — Lincoln County plans to use about $215,000 of state road funds to resurface approximately seven miles of roads in central and eastern Lincoln County.
Magistrates approved last week a recommendation from state Transportation Cabinet Section Supervisor William Lucas to resurface the entirety of Skyline Drive and almost four miles of Ky. 1770.
Skyline Drive runs east-to-west in the middle of the county, connecting U.S. 27 with Ky. 698 to the west.
Ky. 1770 would be resurfaced from its intersection with Manuel Road at the south end of Cedar Creek Lake north to Walnut Flat Creek Bridge.
If the projects receive final approval from Frankfort, they would be funded by a portion of Lincoln County's annual rural secondary road funds allotment from the Transportation Cabinet.
Lincoln County's total rural secondary allotment for the coming fiscal year was almost $1.6 million, according to information from Lucas.
Out of that total, an estimated $779,400 will be spent on routine maintenance costs.
Out of the remaining $808,241, Lincoln will get $215,892 as "flex funds," which can be used for the resurfacing projects, Lucas said.
