Lincoln County sheriff will get three new SUVs

STANFORD — Lincoln County Sheriff Curt Folger will be getting three new SUVs for his fleet.

The Lincoln County Fiscal Court approved Tuesday a plan to purchase and equip three Ford Explorers at a total cost of about $96,800.

Funding for the purchase will be financed through a lease from the Kentucky Association of Counties that will be paid off using budgeted vehicle funds from the sheriff's budget.

The sheriff's budget includes $25,000 annually for paying off vehicles. Folger said his department has finished paying off the most recently purchased vehicles, freeing up that money to go toward new vehicles.

"The money is there for us to be able to purchase (the vehicles)," Folger told magistrates. "I don't want to see our department get down to like it was when I first got here."

Folger said he would like to purchase the three SUVs from Paul Miller Ford and pay Lawrenceburg-based L&W Lighting to install the lights and equipment, which he estimated will cost about $1,200 less than having Paul Miller Ford install the lights and equipment.
