The Logan’s Fort Foundation announced they have been the recipient of a $35,000 grant from the Steele-Reese Foundation. Steele-Reese is a private foundation that supports projects in education, health, human/social services, arts/humanities and conservation/preservation in Appalachia and the western states of Idaho and Montana.
The grant is to be used to build handicap accessible restrooms and shower facilities in the Logan’s Fort Welcome Center, formerly an ice house.
Upon completion, the Welcome Center will offer visitors a place to interact and learn about the historic site. It will contain a gift shop, museum, public meeting room and restrooms. Showers will be available for use by historic reenactors.
The Logan’s Fort Foundation is currently in the process of working with the city of Stanford and Lincoln County to reconstruct the historic Logan’s Fort.
