UPDATED: No new McKinney principal yet

UPDATE: The McKinney Elementary School council met Thursday night and again did not take action after a half-hour closed session to discuss principal candidates.

No explanation was given for why the council did not take action, but one council member said "we're just as disappointed as you."

Another council meeting has been scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, July 30 at the Lincoln County Schools central office in Stanford.

Coverage from last week

STANFORD — The McKinney Elementary School council met Tuesday night at the central school office to make its final selection for its next principal, but the announcement was put on hold when the council couldn’t get in contact with the finalist it chose.

Superintendent Karen Hatter said the board didn’t want to announce its choice until the person had a chance to accept.

Another meeting has been scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday at McKinney Elementary, when the board plans to make its selection public.

McKinney Elementary has been searching for a new leader since its previous Principal Don Leigh stepped down at the end of the school year to become the principal at Hustonville Elementary.
