Last week, Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff Dan Gilliam arrested a man living on Old South Fork Road on outstanding felony rape charges from Ohio. When Mercer County, Ohio, authorities contacted the Sheriff’s Office, they told Sheriff Curt Folger that Daniel L. Young, 23, who was wanted for three counts of rape and three counts of felony sexual battery, was one of Ohio’s Most Wanted criminals.
A press release from Ohio stated that their call was based on a tip, but the state’s Most Wanted website listed his address in Lincoln County, and it appears that Ohio authorities and the Kentucky State Police knew his location for over two years.
Gilliam arrested Young after he phoned the man at his work place and the man surrendered. Young told Gilliam that the alleged assaults took place when he was a minor.
Young is in the Lincoln County Regional Detention Center and must appear before a local judge to review his fugitive warrant and authorize extradition.
