STANFORD — Stanford police officers tracked down Wednesday a man who escaped from a Louisville correctional facility earlier in the week.
After Louis Taylor, 24, went missing from the Louisville facility Monday, police initiated a search and told the public they considered him dangerous, according to reports.
Taylor contacted Lincoln County Sheriff Curt Folger Tuesday and agreed to turn himself in Wednesday morning at the sheriff's office, according to Folger.
But Taylor never turned himself in as planned. Folger said he was in contact with Taylor again Wednesday but Taylor was "throwing some curveballs" in regards to what he was planning to do next.
Taylor is well-known to law enforcement officers in the Lincoln County area, Stanford Detective Joe Gilliland said Thursday.
Stanford Officer Tim Morris was checking several locations Taylor was known to frequent when he found the escapee at Logan Trace apartments on the east side of Stanford, Gilliland said.
Contrary to some reports that said Taylor turned himself in, Gilliland said Stanford police captured Taylor.
Morris and officer Preston Middleton arrested Taylor and he was lodged in the Lincoln County Regional Jail.
Taylor was transferred to the Metropolitan Department of Corrections in Louisville Wednesday night, where he remained in custody Thursday afternoon.
