STANFORD — Drivers traveling U.S. 27 south of Stanford Friday evening saw the aftermath of what appeared to be a fairly severe wreck, but there was no one injured and only one vehicle was damaged.
Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff Ryan Kirkpatrick said Rebecca Roark of Stanford swerved her Ford SUV to avoid another vehicle, and wound up with her vehicle on its side.
Roark was examined by Stanford EMS personnel who responded to scene, and she checked out OK without any injuries, according to Kirkpatrick.
Roark was second in a line of southbound vehicles on U.S. 27 that were stopped in the left lane behind a vehicle waiting to turn left onto Old Somerset Road, Kirkpatrick said.
Roark decided not to wait behind the turning vehicle and began to pull into the right lane to drive around. As she changed lanes, the vehicle in front of her did the same thing, cutting her off, Kirkpatrick said.
Roark swerved to avoid the other vehicle, and her SUV flipped onto its side and spun around.
Kirkpatrick said the vehicle that was waiting to turn left and the vehicle that pulled out in front of Roark both left the scene.
Lincoln County firefighters directed traffic around the wreck until it could be cleared.
