HIGHLAND — Equipment failure at a power substation left approximately 2,800 Inter-County Energy members without power early this morning.
As of 1:20 p.m., Sheree Gilliam, vice president of member services at Inter-County, said all customers have had their power restored.
Overnight weather conditions in the area were potentially icy, but crews haven't established if the substation failure was caused directly by the weather, Gilliam said.
The Highland substation went down around 4:30 a.m. Inter-County crews got the substation back online, but couldn't keep it from going down again.
"At that point, we started trying to diagnose the equipment inside the substation," Gilliam said.
In order to provide power while the substation is repaired, customers have been shifted onto another substation near Stanford.
Communities that were affected by the outage include Ottenhiem, Broughtontown, Highland, Waynesburg and the Green River area, according to information from Inter-County.
