Two injured in U.S. 27 accident at Lincoln-Garrard county line

STANFORD — U.S. 27 traffic ground to a halt in both directions for brief period Friday afternoon due to a two-vehicle injury accident at the Garrard-Lincoln county line.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Sim Thacker said Bobbie Lewis, 57, of Lancaster, was attempting to turn onto U.S. 27 off of Rankin Road in a Chevy Blazer when she pulled into the path of a Toyota Camry driven by Ronnie Wilkerson, 50, of Stanford, who was traveling south around 1:30 p.m.

Lewis suffered minor injuries to her arm and was complaining of neck and back pain, Thacker said. Wilkerson was attended to at the scene by EMS workers. Both were transported to Fort Logan Hospital.

Thacker said the injuries appeared to be non-life threatening. Deputies Linda Cook and Bill Hester assisted Thacker at the scene. Stanford EMS and Lincoln County Fire Station No. 1 also responded.

The scene had been cleared and traffic was flowing freely again by 2 p.m.
