Mildred Marie Marsee Bishop, 96

Mildred Marie Marsee Bishop

Mildred Marie Marsee Bishop, known to all who loved her simply as "Grannie", 96, of Science Hill, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, Dec. 15, at the home of her daughter where she resided.
Born July 10, 1915, in Dabney, Mildred was a daughter of the late George and Rose Phillip Marsee. She was a lifelong resident of Science Hill, a homemaker and an excellent cook and seamstress.
"Grannie" was deeply devoted to the Lord and His church. She looked forward to church on Sunday mornings and going out to lunch with her family.  She loved to read, watch TV, cook and sew; but more than anything else, she enjoyed family gatherings. "Grannie" was a woman of few words, but to those closest to her, she was appreciated for her quick wit and sense of humor, which she kept right up until the end. Her biggest joys in life were her God and church friends, as well as her family.  She lived to inspire and help the lives of others. She has had her hand in raising four generations and encouraged each person to be the very best they could be.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lawrence Bishop, whom she married in 1930 and who died in 1977.
Survivors include two children, Lawerence Donald "Don" (Betty) Bishop of Somerset and Lois Dean (Ronald) Dalton of Science Hill; a sister, Margie Haggard of Petersburg, Va.; five grandchildren, Rita Bishop of Somerset, Sherry  (Mike) McClanahan of Paris, Scott Dalton of Science Hill, Kristi  (Wendell) Cassada of Eubank, Tami (Teddy) Brady of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; 13 great grandchildren, Tara  (Michael) Ray, Lee Hutchison, Lana Hutchison, D.J. Hutchison, Lucas Humphries, Jana (Colby) Hayes, Julie Humphries, Eric Dalton, Ricky Chappell, Nikki Dalton, Kayden Brady, Kristen Dalton and Heather Cassada; three great, great grandchildren, Jaxson and Izzy Ray and Audrey Humphries; and a host of nieces and nephews.
